In the province of Quindio (where I was staying), there are about 543 different bird species. To give you an idea, thats exactly three times more than in Switzerland .

In every major city or town in Colombia, the main square is called Plaza Bolivar. This, is in honour of the main contributor to the independence of the countries Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador (and more). Until today, all their flags are derived from the former red, blue and yellow Gran Colombia flag.
